As you may already be aware, the entry system at the front gates will be changing dramatically on May 1, 2008.
As of May 1, the only way to enter through the "Resident" gate will be with a valid barcode sticker affixed to the side window of your vehicle.
The Board of Directors has currently made arrangements for residents to have the barcodes affixed to their vehicles on 4 upcoming occassions (listed below)
Thursday, April 10 from 7pm to 9pm
Saturday, April 12th from 9:30am to 12:30pm
Wednesday, April 16th, from 6pm to 8pm
Saturday, April 19th, from 9:30am to 12:30pm
REMINDER TO ALL RESIDENTS HOA DUES MUST BE CURRENT IN ORDER FOR RESIDENT ENTRY WITH BAR CODE, DISTRIBUTED DECALS WILL NOT BE ACTIVATED IF YOUR HOA ACCOUNT IS PAST DUE
Please fill out the form provided in the "documents" section of the website title "Barcode Form" and bring that with you to the Clubhouse on the dates listed above. For security purposes, you must also bring the vehicle that the sticker will be affixed to as we can not issue a sticker to a resident if the vehicle is not on site.
Additionally, please keep in mind that in order for your barcode stickers to be activiated, your Isles At Weston, Homeowner's Association dues must be current. While all residents will be issued barcode stickers upon request, No barcode stickers will be activated if the residetns HOA account is more than 30 days past due.
If you are an owner and you RENT your home, your tenants must present a copy of their drivers license and a valid lease in order to have a decal issued to them. It will be the responsibility of the OWNER to notify the Association when the tenant terminates their lease so that we can de-activate their respective barcode stickers.
Lastly, with regard to multiple stickers being issued per household. Each resident will be entitled to "barcode stickers" equal to the number of clickers that have been issued to that household. For example if your account has been issued four (4) clickers you will be issued up to four (4) barcode stickers. If your household requires additional barcode stickers these can be purchased from the Association at a cost of $10 per unit.
We understand that this transition is a massive undertaking and the process is not convenient for everyone involved so we ask for your continued understanding and patience. Please email us your questions or concerns or feel free to call our on site Property Manager.
We thank you for your continued support.

Special Meeting April 10th at 7pm |

Dear Isles at Weston Homeowner:
The purpose of this notice is to advise you that the Association proposes to amend Article 8.4 of the Declaration with respect to the Association’s ability to collect special assessments. As you may recall, the Association imposed a special assessment associated with hurricane clean up but required a majority of the membership to approve the assessment. The Association had a difficult time obtaining the necessary signatures and is concerned that its ability to effectively maintain the community in the event of future emergencies will be hampered. The Association recognizes that you may be concerned about the Association’s unfettered authorization to impose special assessments so the proposal has limited the non-emergency charge the Association can impose to $500.00 per lot per year.
The proposal requires your vote in person, or by proxy, at a meeting. Hence, notice is hereby given, in accordance with the Association’s By-Laws and Declaration, that a Special Meeting of the Members will be held at the Clubhouse, located at 4005 Isles at Weston Avenue, on April 10, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. Please note that sign in will commence at 6:30 p.m. It is therefore important that you either attend the meeting in person or complete the enclosed proxy. To be effective, a proxy must be correctly completed. At the top of the proxy, please fill in your address and the name of the proxy holder. In the middle of the proxy under Limited Powers, please check if you wish to vote for, or against the proposals. Immediately following your choice, please sign and date the proxy.
For your convenience the Proxy form is also located in the "Documents" section of the website.
The Board strongly recommends that you vote for the amendment so that we can maintain our community to the standards we all expect. If you are unable to attend the meeting, please complete and return the proxy.
Thank you and we look forward to seeing you at the Special Meeting.
Sincerely,
Joe Sloboda
On behalf of the Isles At Weston,
Board of Directors

Delinquent Association dues on the rise ! |

February 23, 2008
Attention Fellow Neighbors,
In an effort to deal with a potentially devastating situation that our community is soon to face, due to the steady increase of unpaid and delinquent HOA dues, The Isles At Weston Board of Directors has made the following difficult decision.
Effective March 1, 2008 any resident who is delinquent on their HOA dues (by more than 45 days) will have certain community services suspended until the resident brings their HOA Account current. These services (which are paid for with a portion of collected association dues each month) that will be suspended, will include cable television service through DirecPath, basic internet access through DirecPath, access and use of the Clubhouse facility and eventually the use of the “residents only” gate. Any resident who has these services suspended will need to use the “Guest Entry Gate” until their HOA account is brought current.
As a community we rely solely on the money collected monthly from each and every homeowner, without these funds we can not effectively maintain our community to the standards that we have all become accustomed to in The Isles at Weston.
It is unfortunate that we as an Association have been forced to take such measures. But as we watch our balance of unpaid fee’s rise to record levels, we feel it is not fair to those residents that are “footing the bill” to be forced to carry the weight of those other delinquent homeowners. As always the goal of the Board of Directors is to maintain our community to the highest possible standards and in doing so we rely solely on our annual budget which is funded by these monthly dues and we will strive to continue to effectively maintain our community.
If you are unsure of the status of your HOA account please contact Castle Management or contact our on site Property manager (Brenda Harper) to inquire and / or bring your account current, we thank you in advance for your support of this initiative.
Sincerely
The Isles at Weston, Board of Directors

Plan picked to shift students from huge Weston school
By Kathy Bushouse | South Florida Sun-Sentinel
February 14, 2008
Taking a key step in resolving one of its most sensitive issues, the Broward School Board picked a plan Wednesday that determines which students will attend new West Broward High School and which will be moved out of overcrowded Cypress Bay High School.
After months of considering more than a dozen options to cut Cypress Bay's 5,500-student population and establish an attendance zone for West Broward High in Pembroke Pines, a majority of School Board members selected the scenario recommended by Superintendent Jim Notter. They said the proposal would move the greatest number of students out of Cypress Bay in Weston.
The decision is certain to bring even fiercer opposition from parents who want their children to stay at Cypress Bay, now over capacity by 2,100 students.
West Broward High, now under construction, will have a 2,800-student capacity when it opens in August.
"My No. 1 thing ... is relief for Cypress Bay," board member Maureen Dinnen said. Notter's recommendation "is the scenario that provides the most relief."
The proposed boundary changes shift students who live south of Griffin Road and now attend Cypress Bay to West Broward High. Students also would move from Everglades High School in Miramar to West Broward High, and from Miramar High School to Everglades High.
More than 600 students living in the northeast corner of Weston would move from Cypress Bay to Western High School Davie.
With the board's recommendation made, the boundary plan now will go to two public hearings in March and April before going back to the School Board for final approval.
Board member Phyllis Hope, whose district includes Weston, said she liked the scenario because it gave maximum relief to Cypress Bay.
But board member Beverly Gallagher, whose district includes residents whose children will be moved out of Cypress Bay, wasn't pleased. She backed a proposal that would allow a portion of Southwest Ranches and the Ivanhoe neighborhood in Davie to stay in Cypress Bay's attendance zone.
"These are the people whose families and children are directly affected," Gallagher said. "We have to remember we're not just moving numbers. There are families and children directly involved here."
While public comment wasn't allowed at Wednesday's workshop, more than 30 people attended the meeting to hear the School Board discussion. How they felt about the decision depended on where they live.
"I think it's very disappointing," said Melissa Gleissner, of Southwest Ranches, parent of a Cypress Bay sophomore who will have to move to West Broward High should the board formally adopt the boundary plan. "My area's bounced over and over again."
But Marianne Cecchini, of Weston, was happy. She has children at Cypress Bay and Falcon Cove Middle School, and said Cypress Bay is simply too big.
"The number of children at Cypress Bay is just so incredibly huge that they miss out," said Cecchini, whose children would, under the plan, likely stay at Cypress Bay.
A large number of students needs to move out of the school "because a lot of the community doesn't believe [proposed high school] MMM will ever be built," she said. The proposed high school was mentioned frequently in Wednesday's debate, though a location for the school — dubbed MMM for now — has yet to be finalized. Notter told the board Wednesday he's still in talks to either build MMM at a 31-acre site in Davie or on a 30-acre site in Weston, though some board members have questioned whether to build the school at all.
